Welcome to the Office of Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels
Surrounded by snow-capped mountains and the shimmering waters of Puget Sound and Lake Washington, Seattle is a sparkling city with great neighborhoods and a vibrant culture.
We’re a city of innovation. We’re focused on job creation and affordability. With industry leaders in high tech, aviation and biotech, Seattle attracts companies large and small with its exceptional work force.
We’re a city of progress. We’re delivering on major projects from building light rail, to repaving our roads, to renovating our libraries and expanding our open space.
We’re a city that’s prepared. We’re committed to keeping our neighborhoods safe, reducing and preventing crime, and preparing for natural disasters such as earthquakes.
We’re a city of compassion. Seattle cares for the least fortunate, bringing hope to the poor and the homeless, and building strong families and healthy communities.
We lead by example. In everything we do, we’re national leaders in environmental stewardship, restoring our waters, growing our tree canopy and taking Climate Action Now for our future generations.
We’re working together for a city we’re proud to call home. I hope you'll read more about our priorities and contact us if you have any questions or want to get involved. Thank you for visiting our Web site.
GREG NICKELS
Mayor of Seattle
(206) 684-4000
Greg Nickels became the 51st Mayor of the City of Seattle on January 1, 2002.
He has focused his administration on four priorities aimed at making a difference in the lives of Seattle residents: Getting Seattle moving, keeping our neighborhoods safe, creating jobs and opportunities for all, and building strong families and healthy communities.
Rolling Stone called Nickels the “Pied Piper” of mayors for his work to protect our climate. Mayor Nickels challenged mayors across the U.S. to join Seattle in advancing the goals of the Kyoto Protocol. To date, more than 880 mayors representing 80 million Americans have accepted the challenge to reduce global warming pollution by taking local action.
