What is the Mayor's Scholars Award Program
Mayor's Scholars are middle school students in good standing who are "unsung heroes," who have overcome obstacles or met challenges in their lives and demonstrated commitment to their community through their school, neighborhood, or religious organizations, or through other activities.

Each year approximately 20 awards are given to middle school students who are responsible and generous community members who give to society and lead by example. The program is open to any student both living in and attending middle school in Seattle. If you work hard in school and spend time helping to improve your community, you can compete for an award.

The Awards

Mayor's Scholars will receive a Mayor's Scholars jacket and $500 to contribute to the charity or cause of their choice, or to further their education. In addition, one Mayor's Scholar may also receive the Leighton Hilbert Scholarship for Native American students, and one 8th-grade Mayor's Scholar, who is planning to attend college, may receive the Mayor's Leadership Award.
